Gift Card Drive for Make-A-Wish Orange County and Inland Empire

Our chapter has the honor of partnering with this local organization in December with a Gift Card drive that will contribute to many wishes and happy hearts!

About the Gift Card Drive:

Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire grants more than 300 wishes per year for children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions. Children who qualify to receive a wish receive toys as enhancements during many phases of the wish process. Whether it is the first time we meet them or to fill a backpack for them to take on a travel wish, these gifts make each child feel extra special.

What to do?

Bring a gift card(s) for Target, Walmart, Toys R Us or Best Buy in denominations of $10 to $25 for teenage and “tween” wish kids to the December 10th event.

How does your gift card donation help?

The importance of toys and gift cards:

When wish granters first visit a wish family, they bring gifts for the wish child and their siblings. We call these gifts “ice breakers” as they help the children feel more comfortable and start the magic Make-A-Wish instantly! These gifts range in price from $10-$20. Ice breakers are one way that gift cards can be used.

For all of the travel wishes, the wish children are provided with a backpack filled with an array of goodies to keep them entertained on their trip. Backpacks make great donations for these kids, and gift cards are used to help fill them.

Your gift card can help buy ice breaker gifts that are personalized for each wish child, with the purchase of backpacks and items that enhance the wish and fit the child’s specific interests.

Make-A-Wish is a 501(c)(3) organization, which means that donations made payable to the Make-A-Wish are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
